Has anyone heard of Josh McDowell? Or read his books?

I was at a church trip and he showed up in person, and he question us with "do you accept jesus christ as your lord and savior" and when someone said yes he asked "why?" and everyone would say cause the bible says so. or because that's what i believe. and he would say well muslims say that all the time. and basically he said you cannot go by just your beliefs. heck he didnt ask me but i still couldnt think of what to say. he is a great christian. really the best part was him asking us what these words mean. like love. he said love means to protect and provide. and i was really moved by him. im just curios to know if anyone else has heard of him before.
